BROAD ACTIVITIES

 The Institute of Translation Arts (ITA) possesses three major activities which are:

  • ADVOCACY: The Institute brings all and sundry to appreciate its key role and importance vis ὰ vis the disquieting world of linguistic disparities and cultural sensitivities. With several advocacy themes and topics, the Institute enlightens the public through focused information dissemination as well as seminars and workshops.
  • PRACTICUM: ITA translates websites, articles, books, journals etc. while still providing interpretation and translation services for multinationals, NGOs, banks, companies, industries, and specific topnotch translation services of the Institute Include the following:
  • Abstracts (e.g. theses, articles, international conference papers, Inaugural lectures, etc.)
  • Certificates and results
  • Academic transcripts
  • Landmark texts
  • Translation and interpretation of International Conferences Proceedings
  • Film texts and sub-titles
  • Manufacturers’ brochures to several languages
  • Hand bills, notices and brochures of hotels and diplomatic organizations
  • Historical documents, etc.
  • Legal Documents
  • Providing short-term capacity building programmes for practicing translators especially in the Nigerian media and in the industries
  • TRAINING: ITA updates its work-force on developments in the translation profession through in-house training while still training others such as professionals in the media, journalism, foreign-language dependent organizations and so on and so forth.
  • EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME: These are programmes such as:
    • Master degree programme in translation: ITA offers Masters of Arts degree programme leading to M.A. Translation Art
    • Post-graduate Diploma in Translation Studies (in view)
    • Diploma programmes in Translation Arts (in view)
